Personal:

Mr. Kingfield joined Winegar, Wilhelm, Glynn & Roemersma as “of counsel” in 2005 after serving over 20 years as a New Jersey Superior Court Judge. Accordingly, he will now be concentrating his efforts for the Law Firm in the field of Alternative Dispute Resolution (Mediation and Arbitration).

Throughout his career, Mr. Kingfield has amassed in excess of 35 years in legal experience, including his two decades of service as a Judge for the Superior Court of New Jersey. During his time on the bench, Mr. Kingfield facilitated the settlements for many civil cases, in addition to also presiding over numerous major criminal, civil, and family part trials. He also spent a number of those years as judge hearing juvenile and probate matters.

As a judge, Mr. Kingfield prided himself on impartially examining the vital legal and factual merits of cases brought before the Court. His careful, thorough approach and attention to detail in overseeing trials and rendering decisions earned Mr. Kingfield the well-deserved and renowned reputation as a fair-minded, independent arbiter of justice. In fact, Mr. Kingfield recently received the 2004 Professionalism Award for Warren County from the Warren County Bar Association.

Mr. Kingfield received his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Rutgers University School of Law in 1962.

After graduating from law school, Mr. Kingfield proudly served his country for two years as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army, where his tour of duty included 13 months in South Korea. After being honorably discharged from the Army in 1965, Mr. Kingfield then proceeded to serve the next two years as Deputy Attorney General in the Criminal Section for the Office of the New Jersey Attorney General.

In 1968, Mr. Kingfield entered private practice when he helped form the Phillipsburg, NJ law firm of Curry & Kingfield. As a partner there for over 13 years, Mr. Kingfield handled all trial and municipal board matters. Moreover, during his career in private practice, Mr. Kingfield also served as counsel to the Warren County Welfare Board from 1974-1980.

From 1970-1973, Mr. Kingfield returned to public service as an Assistant Prosecutor for the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office, and was subsequently appointed to the position of Prosecutor for the same office from 1980-1981.

In 1981, Mr. Kingfield was appointed as a New Jersey Superior Court Judge for Warren County by Governor Brendan T. Byrne, from which Mr. Kingfield continued to proudly serve the citizens of Warren County and the State of New Jersey for20 fulfilling years, until his retirement from the bench in 2001.

Prior to becoming a judge, Mr. Kingfield’s involvement in civic activities for the Phillipsburg area was extensive. For example, he served as president and board member on numerous civic entities, in addition to also serving as a past President of the Warren County Bar Association and past Trustee of the New Jersey State Bar Association.
