In the last two decades applications for Social Security Disability benefits have more than doubled, though less applicants (about one third) are ultimately receiving benefits. What this means for new applicants and those with pending claims is that you need to be prepared every step of the way. The good news is that there are some easy tips that you can follow.
If you have recently filed an application for Social Security Disability benefits and/or Supplemental Security Income benefits through the Social Security Administration, you may be wondering what will happen next. For every application for disability benefits, the Social Security Administration will issue a written decision which will be sent to the person applying, also called the Claimant, by mail. If the Social Security Administration has granted the application, the Claimant will likely receive a Notice of Award explaining the amount of monthly benefits to which he or she will be entitled.
