Your Right to Medicare Benefits When Receiving Social Security Dis ability

On Behalf of | Mar 25, 2015 | Uncategorized

Medicare is a medical care program designed to offer health care services to senior citizens and people who qualify for Social Security Dis ability. In most cases, a person who qualifies for Social Security Dis ability benefits will also qualify for Medicare benefits after a two year initial waiting period. In certain cases where a person has a rare and debilitating disease, Medicare benefits may be awarded immediately upon having your Social Security Dis ability claim accepted. These conditions include Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS) and serious kidney disease such as end stage renal disease or people who need kidney transplants.& ;

Once you qualify for Medicare based on Social Security Dis ability Insurance, you will continue to be eligible for Medicare as long as you are still considered dis abled and continue to receive Social Security Dis ability benefits. Once you are no longer considered dis abled, you are no longer eligible for Medicare benefits.
