Weather-wise, it looks like we have turned a corner. The constant threats of snow covered highways and threats of black ice are over; coming are warmer days and late sunsets. These are telltale signs of spring. With that, people will begin to bring their motorcycles out again.

Since motorcycles have not been around consistently for a number of months, it is almost as if drivers have to get used to seeing them again. Motorcycle riders and drivers must take additional care to share the road. Even though this responsibility is shared, motorcycle riders stand to be seriously injured in an accident. Because of this, we offer this post that will highlight some helpful tips for riders to stay safe.

Stay in sightMost times riders are heard (we hear you Harley owners), but it is also important to be seen. It is true that drivers do not always see motorcycle riders to begin with, so staying out of blind spots is essential.

Don’t drink and rideThis may seem obvious but drinking and riding are a bad combination. Just think, if alcohol can affect a driver’s judgment and motor skills, imagine how it will affect a rider’s balance and coordination.

Know your motorcycleThis recommendation applies especially to new riders, or older riders who have purchased a new bike. It is important to know your bike’s capabilities. If it is too powerful for you, don’t be afraid to take it back within a reasonable amount of time.
