In the event you are in an automobile accident, you are required under the law to stop and provide your name, address, driver’s license, registration, and insurance information to the other driver and police. In fact, if you cause injury to a person in the other vehicle, the law requires that you provide them with reasonable assistance, which could include taking the person to a hospital. If you hit an unattended vehicle or property, you must leave a note with your contact information. Failure to comply with the law carries steep penalties, including a minimum $200.00 fine and a six (6) month driver’s license suspension. If you injure a person in the other vehicle and are convicted of leaving the scene, you face paying a minimum $2,500.00 fine and/or serving up to six (6) months in jail
