How Fast Can A Residential Tenant Be Evicted In New Jersey

A New Jersey residential Tenant can only be evicted though the court system. On the day of court, if the Landlord gets a Judgment of Possession, he or she has to wait three (3) business days before they can ask the Court to issue a Warrant of Possession to the local Court Officer. Once the Court Officer receives the Warrant of Possession, they have to notify the tenant and give them three (3) business days to remove their belongings. If the Tenant has not moved out by the third day, the Landlord can schedule an eviction of the Tenant with the Court Officer. This means it will takeat least eight (8) days, plus holidays, from the time the Judgment of Possession is entered before a residential Tenant can be evicted.
